Strange Beast talent collaborate with Hive to launch hard hitting short

To launch VOW to end child marriage, Hive and Strange Beast have collaborated on an animated film.

12 million girls under the age of 18 are married every single year. That’s one girl every three seconds. These girls are robbed of their future, putting them at risk of violence, ill health and trapping them in poverty. VOW launched with a mission to put the reach and economic power of America's $100-billion wedding industry behind the global movement. VOW gives couples, companies and the public the power to end child marriage globally. The new initiative has already secured partnerships with leading companies — influential brands The Knot, Crate and Barrel and Malia Mills are among the first on board — to donate a portion of profits from products, experiences and wedding registries to local, on-the-ground organisations that stand up for girls' rights and against child marriage.

Hive worked with Strange Beast Creative Director Andy Martin, who led a collaboration of Strange Beast talent and exciting new directors creating the hard hitting short. The creative talent involved are Kijek/Adamski, Sacha Beeley, Caitlin McCarthy, Cabeza Patata, Wednesday Studio and I Saw John First.

“VOW is a dynamic, exciting and collaborative brand that we hope will help end this crisis. We wanted to create a film that would showcase that vibrancy while also demonstrating the very real issue that 12 million girls under the age of 18 face each year. Strange Beast was the perfect partner,” said Jenifer Willig, founder Hive.

Each director has created two snapshots into a girl’s life, one doing everyday things and one showing the very real problem of child marriage. The variety of animation styles not only highlights the liveliness of young girls lives it also reveals the breadth of the problem. It shows that, in reality, it’s not an issue that is far from home at all.
