Great Guns and M&C Saatchi LA Soar with New UGG Treadlite Spot
Great Guns director & celebrated photographer Vincent Laforet shoots dreamlike new film for UGG® Australia through M&C Saatchi LA. Following the immense success of 7.5k, where Vincent took a rare night flight by helicopter over New York City (the photos went viral overnight, and were picked up by every major news station in the US) he teamed up with M&C Saatchi LA through Great Guns USA to shoot a new film for UGG® Australia.
The film is for the new Treadlite by UGG™ range, which boast ultra-durable, lightweight shoes that offer phenomenal grip and comfort. On receiving the brief, Vincent had to decide how to reveal the new product. It needed to be visually striking, yet wonderfully simple – something he believes are the perfect ingredients for a powerful, indelible spot.
To highlight the feather-light attribute of the shoes we follow them as they are pulled up through the beautiful sunlit streets of LA – bouncing off traffic lights, soaring sky-high outside warehouses, bobbing past busy diners, until finally coming to rest on fast moving feet.
The film was all made possible thanks to Freefly’s M15 MōVI which uses advanced stabilization technology, enabling smooth footage in even the most demanding situations. It meant that Vincent and Matt the DOP could move around easily, capturing all the right moments in the right light.
Vincent comments: “this was an extremely refreshing shoot for me, as we were allowed to roam the streets of Los Angeles and truly ‘chase the light’, given that the shoes are of course added in post. It was a bit of a head twister at times, with no central characters to follow or focus on, but a wonderful challenge nonetheless.”
The film was shot over a weekend when the streets of LA remain quiet and almost magical. The shoes are the true heroes, the camera merely the observer - which has resulted in an incredibly organic, beautiful film.
