Filmmaker Luna Carmoon unveils her debut music video for Fontaines D.C. latest single “Here’s The Thing,” produced by ProdCo. Known for her distinct ability to blend eerie atmospheres with raw emotion, Luna brings a unique vision to life, drawing on her signature style.

Delving into the darker, more surreal aspects of human experience, the film draws inspiration from cult classics and blending them with modern sensibilities. With a background in writing and filmmaking, Luna's projects are known for their striking visuals and complex narratives, making her a perfect fit for Fontaines D.C.’s evocative sound.

The video follows a young girl ostracised by her peers during a community dance competition. After a humiliating fall on stage, she finds herself entangled with a group of outsider girls who begin to infiltrate her life and dreams. The narrative unfolds with elements of supernatural intrigue, as these enigmatic girls lead our protagonist into a world of chaos and rebellion.

Visually, the video is a masterclass in crafting atmosphere. The haunting, smog-filled settings evoke the suspense of '80s Giallo films, while the characters’ distinctive, alt-inspired wardrobes draw from grunge and goth aesthetics. Each frame is designed to create a sense of unease, from the flickering lights that explode above the stage to the shadowy figures lurking in the background. The influence of films like The Craft and The Lost Boys is evident in the way Luna portrays the bond between the outsider girls, with the lead character’s transformation from outcast to a powerful, defiant force driving the story forward.

The music video for “Here’s The Thing” is not just a visual feast but also a powerful narrative that explores themes of identity, alienation, and empowerment. Luna Carmoon’s direction elevates Fontaines D.C.’s track, creating a piece that lingers in the mind long after the final frame.
