McCann Worldgroup announced today the promotion of Adrian Botan to the role of global creative partner, creative excellence in a move that further demonstrates the network’s commitment to creative excellence for our clients and their brands. 

Adrian will also retain his European leadership role and continuing to spearhead McCann Worldgroup’s Mastercard creative globally, and will report into Javier Campopiano, chief creative officer, McCann Worldgroup and McCann.

As McCann’s chief creative officer, Europe, Adrian has led European creative teams across 29 countries, driving innovation and creative excellence. In his expanded remit he will support McCann Worldgroup to identify and deliver on the biggest creative opportunities for the network’s most important clients and brands across the globe. 

During his almost 20-year tenure at McCann Worldgroup, Adrian has prioritised creativity and innovation, building a culture that not only encourages experimentation and bravery but drives commercial effectiveness.

Most recently Adrian was a key force behind the success of Mastercard’s 'Where to Settle' project, which helps Ukrainian refugees build a new life in neighbouring Poland. The project has won multiple accolades, including a Cannes Lions Grand Prix in 2023. The latest iteration of the campaign ‘Room for Everyone’ has just been shortlisted for a 2024 Titanium Cannes Lion award. Adrian has played a key role contributing to a raft of McCann Worldgroup creative wins including Cannes Grand Prix, Titanium and Black Pencil awards. In 2023 he was named to Campaign’s 40 over 40 list and has also been named Campaign’s European Creative Person of the Year three times.

McCann Worldgroup has been recognised with a host of top creative awards over recent months, with wins including a Penta at The One Show, a Black Pencil at D&AD, Black Cube Best of Show at the ADC Awards, five Grand Clios and named Network of the Year at the ANDY Awards, in addition to receiving top recognition at the Webby’s, SIAs and Ad Age Creativity Awards. Last week the network was ranked Most Effective Agency Network by the Global Effie Index 2023, for the fifth time.
