WW7’s Jamsbash Directs 'Breakin’ on the One' from Disney and Espn’s Andscape

WW7 directors JamsBash direct 'Breakin’ on the One' for Andscape and ESPN Films, debuting on Hulu on Monday, June 24th. The documentary follows a famed break-dancing battle between the Rocksteady Crew and the Dynamic Rockers in New York City in 1981, tracing the origins of breaking and following its prominence throughout sports and entertainment.

Featuring a wealth of archival material from the '80s and present-day interviews with individuals who were there for the nexus of this movement, 'Breakin’ on the One' chronicles the events surrounding the Out-of-Doors Festival where this breaking battle took place. On August 15th, 1981, a crowd gathered at the plaza of Lincoln Centre in Manhattan to witness the showdown between the Rocksteady Crew and the Dynamic Rockers. After this, break dancing went from a niche activity inspired by New York youth to becoming a cultural cornerstone for a larger swath of people and eventually becoming an official sport in the 2024 Summer Olympics. This documentary highlights this seminal moment as a turning point, unfolding a wave of inspired actions across hip-hop, dance, race, and politics.

'Breakin' on the One' is the latest project in a line of many culture-forward films from JamsBash. Their work spans commercials, TV, film, and a Times Square takeover that earned the first Grand Clio ever given to a live entertainment brand. They directed two full seasons of HBO’s critically acclaimed late-night comedy series 'Pause with Sam Jay' and 'The Day Ones,' a feature film from SoundCloud. Additionally, JamsBash’s commercial work includes collaborations with top global brands like Mastercard, MLB, Vogue, Adidas, Wendy’s, and eBay, to name a few.
